Greetings, Jinja Connection community! We bring you a firsthand account of our recent field activity—a heartening follow-up visit with Semaganda Ian, a resilient 10-year-old. This report not only highlights our findings but also sheds light on his journey towards transformation.

Findings

Semaganda Ian has undergone a remarkable transformation, distancing himself from his past struggles with petty theft. His commitment to change has been evident during our visit.

Purpose:

Our primary objective was to assess Ian's well-being at home and explore the possibility of enrolling him in our school program for the year 2024.

Background Information:

Ian's previous attempts at resettlement proved challenging due to his behavioral issues and the reluctance of his paternal relatives in Entebbe. Currently under the care of benevolent individuals, Ian and his elder brother Akram navigate life without knowledge of their parents' whereabouts.

New Developments:

Ian's commitment to change was palpable during our visit. Expressing a strong desire to return to school next term, he faces challenges such as living with an elderly woman with limited income. Basic needs like clothing, reliable food, and upcoming school fees are pressing concerns.

School Visits:

We visited two schools, Kitimbwa RC Primary School, and Kitimbwa CU Primary School, with the latter displaying a higher academic standing. Ian expressed a keen interest in Kitimbwa CU Primary School, which we found academically superior to Kitimbwa RC Primary School.

Note: Both schools are government-aided, and we encountered a lack of authentic school circulars during our visits.

Conclusion:

In light of our findings, we strongly recommend supporting Ian through Jinja Connection, particularly in the realm of academic assistance. Our commitment to transforming lives remains unwavering, and with your support, we can make a lasting impact on Ian's educational journey.

We extend our heartfelt thanks for your continued support. Together, we can create positive change in the lives of those who need it most.

Warm regards,

Jinja Connection
