Meet Mbeya Majidu — a bright and determined young boy from Budhaka District. Growing up in a large Muslim family, with his father having four wives, Mbeya was raised by one of his stepmothers. Sadly, his childhood was marked by neglect and mistreatment, leaving him feeling unsafe, unheard, and unloved.
With his biological mother often away for days working in distant gardens to provide for the family, Mbeya’s heart longed for safety, dignity, and love. One day, he made the brave but painful decision to run away from home in search of a place where he could belong.
Dreams of a Better Future
Despite the challenges he has faced, Mbeya has a clear dream — he wants to become a soldier. He knows that returning to school is the first step toward achieving this goal. However, he has also been deeply concerned about the emotional and physical safety of his home environment.

An Emotional Homecoming
On 29th July 2025, our team at Jinja Connection accompanied Mbeya on his journey back home. When we arrived, his mother was present — and the moment she saw her son, she was overcome with emotion, collapsing to the ground in tears. Her reaction spoke volumes about the depth of her love and the pain she felt during his absence.
Though her health reflected the heavy toll of poverty and neglect, she embraced her son with open arms. Mbeya shared that one of the reasons he wanted to return was to support his mother, who, in his words, “is unloved and uncared for by my father.”

A Life Transformed
Mbeya’s journey has not only been physical — it has been a spiritual transformation. Through discipleship and mentorship, he made the personal decision to invite Jesus into his heart, asking God to make him a new person.
In his own words:
“I want to go home because I left my siblings behind. Even though my father does not care about me, I know God will keep me safe.”
These words reflect the resilience and faith now shaping his life. Witnessing his transformation has been truly moving — a reminder that hope can rise even from the most difficult circumstances.
Our Commitment to Mbeya
As Jinja Connection, we are committed to walking alongside Mbeya in this new chapter of his life. Our plan includes:
Education Support: Helping Mbeya return to school so he can pursue his dream of becoming a soldier.
Ongoing Monitoring: Following up closely to ensure his safety, emotional well-being, and academic progress.
Family Support: Providing counseling and guidance to foster a nurturing home environment.
How You Can Pray
We invite you to stand with us in prayer for Mbeya and his family:
That he will be settled into a good school where he can thrive academically and emotionally.
That his parents will experience the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
That God will give us wisdom as we counsel the family, helping them to embrace and care for him with love, dignity, and respect.
Thank you for being part of Mbeya’s journey. Your prayers, encouragement, and support are helping change lives — one child at a time.
